Visitors to Gibson County can now use their cell phones to explore and learn about area attractions at any time, on any day and at their own pace. It’s all a part of a new driving tour project undertaken by the Gibson County Visitors & Tourism Bureau. According to director, Eric Heidenreich, 15 of Gibson County’s attractions will be included on the tour. “Our goal is to make information on our attractions available to visitors, even when the attractions may not be open” says Heidenreich. “It’s a project we’ve discussed for a long time and we are excited to now be able to make it happen.”

The Visitors & Tourism Bureau has worked with OnCell Audio Tours to develop the tour. Each attraction on the tour will have a 12” round sign displaying a phone number (812-774-9304) visitors can call to receive information and further instructions.

The service is offered free of charge to users except for minute usage and roaming charges which may vary depending on the user’s cell phone plan.

The 15 points of interest include the red covered bridge, the New Generation Dairy Farm, Cane Ridge Wildlife Management Area, Lyles Station, the Princeton Train Depot & Gibson County Visitors Center, the Gibson County Courthouse, Severn’s Bridge, the Azalea Path Arboretum & Botanical Gardens, the Wheeling covered bridge, the Patoka River Wildlife Refuge, Cockrum Hall, the Wabash & Erie Canal, Henager’s Memories & Nostalgia, the Toyota Visitors Center and The Log Inn.

A brochure displaying a map of all of the attractions on the tour along with descriptions is available at the Princeton Train Depot and at selected stops on the tour. The brochure is also available for download from this website.
