JUNETEENTH at Lyles Station

Lyles Station Historic School & Museum, one of the last remaining African American pioneer settlements in Indiana, will host its annual Juneteenth celebration commemorating the announcement of the abolition of slavery in the last state, Texas; two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation.


The guest speaker will be Rev. Gerald C. Arnold, President of the NAACP Evansville branch and the Senior Pastor at Independence Missionary Baptist Church in Evansville, IN. BBQ dinners by Tim’s awesome BBQ will also be sold,

The Juneteenth Celebration is free of charge and will be held on the grounds of the Lyles Consolidated School.  The public is invited to attend. The museum will be open for tours with paid admission.
